Increased uptime, reduced maintenance

Designed to reduce the total cost of ownership, Hitachi’s new, industry leading, on board oil monitoring sensors will enhance customers’ experiences with their Hitachi construction machinery. Increased machine availability and reduced maintenance requirements – which will save owners time and money – are the key benefits of this innovative feature.

Increased uptime, reduced maintenance

The oil sensors will be installed as standard from early 2019 on a range of popular Hitachi excavators including ZX210, ZX260, ZX290, ZX360, ZX490, ZX690 and ZX890.  However, Hitachi will be rolling oil sensors out on other models in the near future.

Hitachi’s on-board oil monitoring system continually analyses the hydraulic and engine oil condition during machine operation and detects changes against objective data. The machine transmits sensor data to Hitachi’s remote fleet monitoring system ConSite and if the oil quality has deteriorated or become contaminated, the ConSite system sends an alert to the customer and Hitachi service centre.

When an alert is sent a physical oil sample can then be taken and sent to a laboratory. From this, a complete analysis is generated so that the exact cause is identified. The dealer can then fix any faults quickly and conveniently on-site.

Peter Finlay, CablePrice, National Customer Support Manager says “We’ve been trialling the new oil sampling on a couple of excavators in New Zealand for some time now, with excellent results.  It’s great to now be offering this technology and it benefits as standard on a range of new machines”.

Key Features

  • Advanced Preventative Maintenance through early detection of changing oil condition.
  • Receive Alert Notifications via e-mail.
  • Monitors the hydraulic and engine oil condition during machine operation.
  • Reduced maintenance costs due to the reduced number of sample bottles.
  • No requirement to oil sample engine and hydraulic systems to meet Hitachi’s warranty requirements.
  • Reduced repair costs by early detection to avoid a potential system failure.
